June 22– June 26 | Bugs, Butterflies and Bees!

Bugs, Butterflies, and Bees…beautiful or creepy pests?  That is the question the Seniors Scouts will ask themselves as they encounter these summer time creatures. This week we hope to convince them they are beautiful and important. The Seniors Scouts will be taking a trip to Runneymede Park to visit the outdoor butterfly garden and will hopefully have a visit from a Bee expert who will explain all the wonderful things bees can do.

 June 29 – July 3 | Let’s Get Going!

This week the Scouts will move and groove!  Scouts will learn the importance of making their bodies move. Bicycle safety will also be a focus this week and we will learn from a Bike Expert who can help the Seniors navigate all the rules of the road! On Thursday, July 2nd we will have a bike obstacle course to challenge those who choose to try. Parents may send in their Senior Scout’s bike and helmet on Thursday or they may try the course on one of our Kay School bikes. Seniors will also head to Eleanor C. Lawrence Park for a hike and learn hiking safety tips.  

July 6- 10 | Pond Life

Seniors Scouts will explore the creatures that live in and around the pond. Campers will take a trip Lake Fairfax where they will have an opportunity to catch some creatures while wading in the shallows of the lake. Please send in rain boots and have children wear old clothes for this week’s adventures!

July 13-17 | Reduce/ Reuse/ Recycle

The three R’s: how important they are to our planet! This week the Senior Scouts will use their imaginations to reuse items to create treasures! Scouts will learn about conservation and how to help protect the planet’s resources.  On Wednesday, July 15th, the campers will head to the County Transfer Station where they will see, first hand, how the system works.

July 20 – 24 | Colonial Life

Week 5 is sure to be tons of fun as the Seniors Scouts take a step back in time and experience life as it was for the early settlers. Scouts will try their hand at candle making, will use a washboard, and learn many other skills. On Wednesday, July 22nd campers will be take a trip to Sully Historic House.

July 27-31| Let It Grow!

Help us tend the Kay School Garden and learn all about the tools we need to till soil and plant plants. Scouts will also bring a plant home.  On Wednesday, July 29th campers will take  a trip to visit Meadowlark Gardens.

August 3 – 7 | Splish Splash

Splish, Splash week is an all time favorite week here at Camp Kay. This week the Seniors Scouts will get WET!!! On Wednesday, August 5th scouts will head to Volcano Island Water Park and on Friday, August 7th, they will visit the Water Mine! Send your camper to Camp Kay in their bathing suit all week long!

August 10-14 | Summer Fun: Best of Camp Kay!

Wow, what a summer it has been! This final week of Kay Summer Camp the Senior Scouts will recap all the fun activities they did over the past 7 weeks with all the wonderful friends they made along the way.
